The unusual shoes sat unloved and unsold at the top of the shelf.
Unknown to passersby they possessed a mysterious ability to transport their wearer through time by incanting the instructions inscribed beneath their soles. Eventually the shoes were purchased, worn once then discarded. And their secret remained.
