The Story

A tale of gratitude.

A time traveller once taught me his secret. If you promise to guard it and use it for good, I’ll share with you too.

Instructions for time travelling to the past

  1. Sit on a chair (make it comfortable if possible)
  2. Remove distractions from reach
  3. Cut out and place these time travelling sunglasses on as if they are the secret to controlling time (because they are ☺)
  4. Count backwards from 50½… As you count, vividly think where you will be one week into the future, until it feels like you are there. Then from that future, remember all that happened in the preceding 7 days… Feel the joyful highs and bitter lows. Recall your reaction in those moments: the perspiration that formed across your brow and the smiles that grew across your face. Feel the pain and euphoria so deeply that you begin to think: if only I could go back in time one week to relive that precious moment again or to make amends for the burning regret that weighs on you.
  5. Open your eyes. You’ll find yourself mysteriously transported one week earlier than that future — and ready to relive the past week.

Note: It may feel to you like the present (reaching a time travel destination always does).

For time travel periods of 1 month, 1 year, 10 years or 50 years, repeat the above steps substituting for the relevant time span.

Warning for time travellers: You will savour the present after travelling through time.
