The Story
On the 24th of March, 2015, South Africa were two runs and one boundary from their first-ever Cricket World Cup final.
Then Grant Elliott met a full toss from Dale Steyn in the final over and sent it over the rope at Eden Park, sending New Zealand through instead.
It's the six everyone remembers. What I remember is what came after — Steyn on his knees, and Elliott, the very man who'd just broken him, crossing the pitch to lift him back up.
Five days later Australia lifted the trophy at the MCG, wearing green and gold — the colours of the golden wattle I've drawn above, the nation's own flower.
I've labelled this one the way South Africa deserved the story to end. Some tales get told the way they happened. I let this one win instead.
